About the Author

Ronald J. Fischer holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and a second master’s degree in mathematics. His most recent book “Cities in Orbit and the End is Near” is a gripping and fascinating tale following Tom Stevens and his new life above the earth in new cities designed to curb the climate and overpopulation crises of Earth.

“In the late twenty-first century, the world had neglected to pay enough attention to climate change and was in bad shape,” writes Fischer. “The temperature of the earth and the oceans was high and rising fast. The ocean levels were rising; tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding were increasing. The world population had reached 10 billion and was overcrowded. The crime rate in the United States was very high. One result of this was the construction of cities in orbit, which were very large cylinders that rotated about their axes. Millions of people had moved up there to get away from the earth, including Thomas Stevens, whose father was a key figure in the construction of the Cities in Orbit and who encouraged Tom to get an apartment in the sky. This is the action-packed story of Tom and his women.”

Ronald J. Fischer’s book portrays a fictional but all too possible future that springs forth from ignoring the Earth’s climate crisis currently threatening the entire human population. Expertly paced and full of suspense, this character-driven tale will leave readers spellbound as they follow Tom through his new life above the Earth in his thrilling tale of survival.

Readers who wish to experience this engaging work, can buy “Cities in Orbit and the End is Near” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

Forget Me Not: Late Dr. H. Kabir, 1959-2014

Treating infections with antibiotic drugs that fight bacterial infections does not cure colds, flu bugs, and bronchitis. On the other hand, most common viral diseases appear self-limiting in healthy people’s life. This means viral infections cause illness, then resolve and symptoms disappear as our immune system fights back the virus and we recover. In some cases, viral diseases can lead to serious, possibly life-threatening complications. Pneumonia is a secondary viral infection. Prior to Dr. Kabir’s ICU admission at Prince Salman Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia he was struggling with a cough, fever, and pneumonia-like symptoms that seemed partially related to MERS. Symptoms lingered even though he was taking antibiotics and cough syrup. Eventually, the ailment paved the path to a dire situation for him, at which point he was admitted against his will to the ICU center of the hospital where his eternal life’s activity shut down abruptly. The incident happened so fast and so quietly that we as Dr. Kabir’s entire clan did not find even enough time to clarify what exactly was Dr. Kabir suffering at that time. Within two weeks Dr. Kabir’s dead body arrived from Saudi Arabia in his native country Bangladesh. It was quite a painful episode in our life. How can a healthy, fully aware experienced physician get infected with the MERS virus in Saudi Arabia? After all, the MERs virus is not so dangerous according to research. But the truth of the matter is we already lost our loved ones. In my book, I talk about Dr. Kabir’s struggle with MERs-CoV infection, and how he was treated for nine days in the hospital. In doing so, my core objective here is to highlight the legacies of Dr. Kabir. To me, he was one of the best-mannered professionals and a gentleman from Bangladesh. I encourage all to read this book.

The Big Dance

I’ve written a book about two teenagers, Alex and Jennifer, who were both passionate about dancing that they started taking dance lessons in the 7th grade.  Every day, they went to the dance studio to learn from Mrs. Lands, who also owns the place; along with many other students.

This routine went on until their senior high years where both of them had become so much better at dancing. Something that caught Mrs. Land’s watchful eye. She wanted both of them to enter a prestigious dance competition slated just a week before graduation. It is a choice they have to make. One that may impact their future.

The story also depicts my passion for dancing when I myself was in senior high.  No, I wasn’t in a dancing class but all my friends and I would hang out across the street from our school and did a lot of dancing along with the popular music at the time. And but we weren’t on any contest opportunity.

There were many Sundays when my friends would want me to hang out with them, but turned them down because I have always gone to church. Though I always prayed that they come to church with me during Sundays and hang out on Saturdays instead.

“The Big Dance” isn’t entirely about my experiences growing up. The love for dancing has become the focal point of the story.

You will find the interesting twist and turns of “The Big Dance” when you read it.

Ann Marie Hannon

I have written poetry most of my life, and published several books, both fiction and nonfiction. Right now, my efforts are directed toward a narrative story “All About a Boy Who Was Afraid of the Dark (And How He Got Over It). However, I will soon be issuing a new rhyming story titled “A Going Home Surprise” which offers an interesting turn of events.

My mother wrote poetry also, and I co-authored a story with her many years ago, that is now published as “Puffy and the Formidable Foe”, the first in a series called Little Kitten Books.

I will always be proud of the fact that when Mom was alive, our local town newspaper would always look forward to her latest poems to publish in observance of many holidays and home-town events.

Most of my poems are dedicated to my Mom, and to the memory of Emily Dickenson who like my Mom, wrote poems using words that we can still discover and repeat again and again. Those words always sustain me and offer a wondrous and magical sense of emotion and an important and pleasant lyrical resonance.

I hope that you are able to resonate with my efforts at poetry and narrative story-telling as well.
